Meet Rev. Nicholas Forrester

Rev. Nicholas embraced the call to become the minister at Erindale United Church starting on June 1, 2024. He has often said he is deeply moved by the warm, welcoming, and authentic fellowship, and is honoured, excited, and grateful for the opportunity to serve this community. Rev. Nicholas believes that Erindale, with its rich history of faith, community, and service, is a special place, and is eager to work towards building on this legacy together with God's people.

As our pastor, Rev. Nicholas says he envisions a thriving ministry at Erindale, where a vibrant, welcoming, and flourishing community is deeply rooted in the life-changing message of the Gospel. He sees Erindale as a place where lives are transformed and faith is lived out in practical ways that strengthen individuals, families, and the wider community, but is also a community that is a launching pad for making a real difference in the world.

Rev. Nicholas is married to Tara, and they are the proud parents of two amazing children, Nathan and Gabrielle. He is deeply committed to his family, which he says is his first and most important ministry and the most important thing in his life. In Rev. Nicholas' words, his family is "the centre of his world" that keeps him "anchored and tethered to purpose."

As a leader, Rev. Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration. He has been ordained since 2004, first serving in Jamaica and now in Ontario, Canada. Rev. Nicholas brings over two decades of ministry experience, having served various congregations, where he revitalised ministry programs, developed strategic plans for church growth, and integrated innovative worship technologies. His leadership extends beyond the church, having co-founded Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce and serving on the Grey Bruce Healthcare Chaplaincy Council. Rev. Nicholas has also been involved in community service initiatives such as youth mentorship and counselling.

For Rev. Nicholas, the ministry he has been given is driven by his deep love for the Lord and firm belief in the transformative power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is an example of unwavering commitment to the Christian faith with a passion for preaching, pastoral care, and discipleship, and is committed to lifelong learning and spiritual depth, helping people grow in their relationship with God and faith in Christ while finding deeper meaning and practical application of faith in everyday life.
