Funerals and Memorials

Funerals and Memorials

Most of us will experience the passing of acquaintances, close friends, and family members. Our minister and congregation will support you as you grieve and come to terms with the many changes that occur after a death.

When you are faced with making final arrangements for someone you love, our minister will counsel and pray with you, and reassure you that you are not alone, not in life, not in death, and especially not in life beyond death. In practical matters, our minister will assist you in planning an appropriate service: a funeral, where the body and coffin are present, or a memorial, after interment or cremation. A graveside ceremony can also be arranged. These services provide important and familiar ways to honour the deceased, as well as to help both the family and their community of friends acknowledge and come to terms with their loss.

At Erindale United Church our minister can help you and your family to plan your service. Readings from scripture, poems, a formal eulogy, and family memories can be interwoven with music and prayer to form a service that is truly meaningful. Facilities exist in our church for an after-service reception in Gardner Hall.

For further information, you may contact the Church Office and/or the Minister, Rev. Warren McDougall, at any time by email or telephone.
